Is the stock market going to go up in 2024?

Maybe.

The ASX200 is currently at its highest peak it’s ever been, reaching over 7,600 points on 2nd. The year is starting well.

Lots of economists and news sites are predicting it will. But take those predictions with a grain of salt. You can always find news reports that will support whatever opinion you have.

So will it? Even with fears of a recession?

Historically the stock market goes up two out of every three years. That’s not consecutive but if you average things out, that’s the trend.

But predicting with any certainty what the stock market might do going forward is very tricky. Everyone is always certain about what they think it will do. But we only really know in hindsight.
