Most people hide their faults, many people blame others, and a few face them straight on and laugh. This is what we learned firsthand when we attended Coach Scott Glabb’s 60th Birthday party and saw Scott entertain his guests with over 30 minutes of comedy and self-deprecating humor. His act is unique and raw and centered on how he overcame a life of personal trauma and eventually thrived as a wrestling Coach at one of our country’s underprivileged school, Santa Ana High School. His book “A Saint in the City: True Stories of Champions Living in the Barrio” is a memoir of his years at the school.

We decided to meet up with this Costa Mesa resident and figure him out. The results were sobering and hysterical.

In 2017, Glabb was selected as the Santa Ana Unified School Districts High School Teacher of the Year and was a semi-finalist for the Orange County Teacher of the Year. Scott and his wife Andrea have two sons and live in Costa Mesa.
