My content is film reviews where I discuss how a movie could have been rewritten to be more enjoyable and entertaining. The copyright clips are used for visual aide to further my point about the film. My content is also adding new meaning to the original clip, by using the same visuals within a different storytelling context I am proving my point about the film, and thus teaching viewers about storytelling and the art of filmmaking. All of these descriptions fall under the definition of Fair Use, as that is defined in Chapter 1, Section 107 of the Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17). This section states "the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright." My content can be classified as criticism, commentary, transformative, and educational, and therefore is considered Fair Use of the copyrighted content.
