This is me in my favourite place to be in the world. Working as a dive instructor In 10 feet of water surrounded by dozens of Caribbean reef sharks here in the beautiful turquoise waters of Eleuthera, the Bahamas. You can do this to to as part of a supervised training course where we teach people to interact with sharks in a safe and control manner. As you can see the sharks are not interested in me at all. At no point am I, nor do I feel in any danger. We have spent a long time in the water with these sharks to develop this relationship over the last few years. We have a mutual relationship of respect and tolerance. They tolerate me in these close conditions because they have learned that I am not a threat. Please do not try this yourself without professional training. Sharks are not the mindless killing machines that the media portrays them as but they are wild animals and should be respected as such.
