Wait for it...This is actually a supervised shark feeding observation dive (no hand feeding) that we do on a regular basis. The reef sharks get very competitive over food. In this instance while they are in the excitement of feeding they are attracted to the power from my video lights and they actually charge my video light and NOT me as such. In fact they do whatever they can to avoid touching me. At no point was I in danger or did I feel in any danger. (although I don't mind admitting that they make me jump sometimes!) Although they charge at you really fast, their ability to stop and turn in an instant is because they are the oceans best adapted vertebrates. People think reef sharks are boring, not me. Reef sharks are an incredibly awesome species to work with and are the poster child for dispelling the myths that sharks are dangerous mindless killing machines. Please don't try this without professional training. The relationship we have with the sharks here has took over 2 years to cultivate.
