The Ford Sierra was divisive from day one, replacing the popular Cortina with radical jelly-mould styling left many fans unimpressed. To broaden the Sierra’s appeal, Ford introduced a hot version, fitting the 2.8-litre Cologne V6, pepperpot wheels, whale-tail spoiler and graphics to create the XR4i. This latest Fast Ford had it all to do, but could it follow in the footsteps of the raucous Fiesta XR2 and rough and ready Escort XR3 in the days before the Sierra RS Cosworth?
