We're introducing you to the emerging field of NeuroArts.

It's a science that's demonstrating how our brains transform when we participate in the arts. Simple activities like listening to music or coloring are proven to lower stress and anxiety.

Exposing children to the arts offers their young minds more than just an appreciation to the creative world. Studies show that kids engaged in the arts have fewer problems with their peers, teachers and adults - and are less likely to develop depression. Prime Time of Palm Beach County, Inc. is putting this to practice through their work with out-of-school providers. Prime Time PBC Professional Development Specialist Shabrae Jackson, and Founder & Artistic Director of Divinity Dance, Sonja Kelly, share how their partnership is helping children through emotional social learning (ESL).

The research on the benefits of singing is overwhelming - from settling down fussy babies to helping with post-partum depression, and even staving off an anxiety attack. Experts share how this accessible stress reliever can benefit your overall wellbeing.

Writing or reading poetry can also provide comfort and boost mood during periods of stress, trauma and grief. The Omari Hardwick bluapple Poetry Network, part of the Jason Taylor Foundation, is hoping to do just that, by giving students across South Florida the opportunity to express themselves through the art of spoken work poetry. We learn more about the program from Program Director Shawntee Herring and Program Coordinator & Alum Shaviah Hamilton, and how poetry has the power to heal.
