I think it’s high time I made a video essay talking about the strange “coincidence” that happened in the late 90s and early 2000s where all of the greatest minds in the Games industry came to the same conclusion at the same time, and that was that their games... Should have water. And so from Sega, to Nintendo, to Square Enix, and back some of the most famous franchises of the day were set in tropical locals with more water than anyone could have imagined on earlier hardware. But the question is: "Why did so many franchises like Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Legend of Zelda, and Final Fantasy put such an emphasis on water in their games? And why is it that this all happened at the same time?"

Well that's what we are going to be exploring in today's video so that we can truly determine what brought about gaming's wettest generation.
