This week, Nedahl Stelio and her family spent some time in the all-new Isuzu MU-X - the top-spec 4WD LS-T model, to be precise.

Last time Nedahl drove the MU-X it was the previous generation model, and she didn't love the lack of advanced safety gear, infotainment technology and the road manners of the rugged, ute-based-SUV underpinnings.

This new-generation model, though, has gone a long way to appeasing those criticisms, with class-leading safety gear, new multimedia with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a much more refined drive experience, too.

But the question is - can it live up to the $8000 price hike over the old model?
