Hello 👋 My friends !
I am so excited to share this banana bread recipe with you ! I’ve tried so many different versions of banana bread recipes through the years and this one by far is the BEST ! We like chocolate chips in this recipe but you can use nuts, dried cranberries or raisins. Either way, it is a very flavorful, cake like bread ! Enjoy 😉

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Ingredients:

2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 stick salted butter (softened )
1 cup sugar
2 eggs (room temperature)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 medium size very ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup of sour cream/ or full fat Greek yogurt
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips / not milk chocolate chips !

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 325F
Butter, flour, and spray a
5 -by 9 - inch loaf pan.

2. In a medium-size bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt until well combined and set aside . In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar using an electric mixer for about 1 minute . Gradually add the sugar, scraping down the sides of the bowl as necessary. Add one egg in at a time, beating well after each addition. Next, add the vanilla extract and blend briefly. Set both bowls aside.

3. Peel the bananas and place them in a small. Mash them with a fork or a potato masher, it should measure about 1 cup. Then add the sour cream and stir to blend. Set the bowl aside.

4. Using a wooden spoon, blend 1/3 of the dry mixture into the butter sugar mixture and add 1/3 of the banana mixture as well . Stirring / folding softly after each addition . Repeat this process of the ingredients in this order . Then fold in the chocolate chips or any other mix in of your choice .

5. Scrape the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a rubber spatula also making a figure 8 design on the top. Bake on the top rack until a tester inserted deep into the center of the bread comes out clean, about 70 to 75 minutes.
Note : if the sides of the bread are done before the top, cover the loaf with aluminum foil the last 10 minutes of baking time.

6. Transfer the bread onto a cooling rack and let cool in the pan for about 20 minutes. Remove from the pan, and allow the bread to cool thoroughly before slicing . Makes 10 or more servings. Enjoy!
