Tesla has been refining their pricing and order lead times as demand continues to surge beyond their ability to fulfill existing customer orders. In a climate with excess demand, Tesla started with significant price increases over the last year.

As price increases don't seem to be enough to tamper demand, Tesla has rolled out a new tactic. Tesla first started by allowing order holders to add options to their build to bring them up in the line to a sooner delivery. Well, just these last few week, Tesla has now given a new tier of expedited status for those who decide to add FSD to their configuration.

It appears as Tesla continues to struggle to keep up with surging demand, they have decided to expedite higher cost models, and to also bring forward those willing to pay an extra $12k for FSD.

Shortly after this new process rolled out, many people discovered that you could add FSD to your Tesla Model 3 or Model Y and get your VIN assigned rather quickly, and then remove FSD before taking delivery. Effectively, you have been brought to the front of the line for free at the end of the day.

This week, Tesla has caught on to this loop hole and has effectively closed out this loophole. Based on the new verbiage on the order sheet, it appears that Tesla may be keeping an eye out for those that decide to remove FSD and will be pushing them back to the end of the line.
