Welcome to another edtion of @ThePaceReport featuring pianist and composer Senri Oe.

During the 1980s and 90s Senri Oe was one of the biggest J-Pop entertainers in his native country of Japan. For well over a decade, Senri sold millions of records and packed stadiums. He walked away from a successful pop career to come to New York City to study jazz and eventually pursue his dream as a jazz pianist.

Tonight on The Pace Report making his New York City debut at Birdland Theater as a leader and playing music from his new Sony Music release, "Class of 88', Senri Oe sits down with Brian for a in-depth interview. His new album is jazz working of all of his popular hit records.

The Osaka, Japan native released eight albums and received his country's Gold Disc Award, which is Japan's version of the Grammy.At 47, Senri moved to New York City to study at the famed New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. While in New York, he formed his own record label Peace Never Die;
