This video is not intended for those who have not played the game. Sure, you can watch it even if you haven’t but be warned that I’m going to spoil absolutely everything and in the narrative section I’m going to spoil the story of The Last of Us. The goal of this video is to analyze and critique what does and most importantly, what doesn’t work in God of War. There are videos galore discussing how incredible and amazing this game is but there are very few, if any, that seek to point out the good and bad, something crucial for honest evaluation. At times it may seem as though I’m just nitpicking, but at the end of the day, this game is fantastic. If you’re on the edge and unsure of whether you should play this game, just do it. Play it. That’s my inspiration to you. But with that said, this is not a review, it’s not a casual discussion, it’s a critique. I’m not going to describe every basic game function because the assumption is that you are already familiar with it. Basic evaluative statements like “the game looks great” and “sound design is well done” are not going to be found here. Instead, we’re going to break down the game’s story in detail all the way down to a discussion on postmodernism in modern story-telling, and of course the gameplay and what makes it tick.
