According to the religiously held traditions that have gone beyond the fairy tale level to become unquestioned 'historical facts', the Messenger was possessed by satan and made to recite shirk verses in the Qur'an until Allah made him come to his senses and they were removed. It could not get any more absurd than this and demonstrates the low level of the 'scholars' and those that have no grasp of what the Qur'an says!
