This car has come a long way to get here, but the recipe has stayed true to its original form

6 cylinders at the front, three pedals in the middle, and spinning rear wheels

Classic sportscar formula

The recipe is the same, and even the chassis is from the previous 370, but don’t think it hasn’t evolved.

The chassis has been revised and enhanced to improve rigidity by 10%

So what that means is it’s the most solid chassis there’s ever been under a Z

A rigid chassis means the suspension can shine more

This isn’t an expensive car, but you still get dual wishbone aluminum front suspension

You get an independent aluminum multi-link rear set-up

The caster has been revised, the toe geometry has been revised

All of that is to say, this is the most refined and sharp feeling Z car I’ve ever driven

A lot of that sharpness comes from the bitey front-end

It’s still a front-midship design, but the chassis is 5 inches longer so they could mount the engine even further back for better balance

That means less weight on that front axle from the engine
And In addition to that you also have Rays aluminum forged wheels to reduce your unsprung weight and those wheels are wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires with wider tread than before for added grip

Contact patch from the tires are 20% more than previous 370z

All of that works with the first-ever electric power steering system ever fitted to a Z. More feedback than drive by wire. You feel more connected to the road.

And what it results in is a front end that loves to turn in and get stuck in

It’s also worth mentioning They addressed the CSC issue by relocating the slave cylinder

The front end is sharp and it’s exactly what I’m looking for from a sportscar, but the rear is incredibly important too

Performance trim cars a clutch-based mechanical LSD in the back making full use of the 400hp and 350lbft from this TTV6

Peak torque is as low as 1600 rpm so the car feels darty and keyed-up

And then torque pulls all the way to 5200 rpm…and then it’s just 1200 rpm more to peak hp at 6400 rpm

This thing is plenty quick

This, so far, is ticking all the boxes, but there’s a big one we haven’t talked about yet and that’s the transmission.

Thankfully It comes with a manual!

It also comes with launch control and in performance trims, the manual cars get a carbon-fiber composite drive shaft

Manual cars also get auto rev matching that you can turn on or off

You can get a 9 speed auto if you really want, but I think both Matt and I would take the stick

Those automatic cars get the same paddle shifters as you would in a GTR, but even still I’d take the manual
You get an EXEDY high-performance clutch
The clutch take up is really smooth
First and second gears get new synchros to help handle the added power of the turbo engine
Press release says the shifter slides effortlessly….
Whatever trans you get, this thing is a riot to rev out with its aluminum alloy block

This whole car, from a design perspective is almost like a greatest hits album
If 90% of the hits came from one album
It’s basically all 240 on the outside, and I’m here for it
The front fascia with it’s squared off grille harkens back to the 240
The crease in the hood that translates into the hood bulge is 240
The headlights are a modern interpretation of the same
Really long hood
19 inch forged aluminum wheels by Rays
Do we like the black air inlets in the front?
Black roof regardless of paint
Chrome detail for contrast
Door handle is very 350 & 370
Molded lip spoiler just like the OG Fairlady
Taillights are a modern interpretation of the 300zx
Z badge, no number, just Z (first time ever)
Big dual exhaust

The interior was a big area they needed to address and they have
However, it’s like a flipped house
Looks great in photos, start to fall down upon closer inspection
You can get a blue interior which is cool
You can also get red, but it’s not Type R red so it’s ok
Then of course black
Seats are power for forward and back, but gear looking adjustment manual
Air vent in door not on dash
Door handle is funky and I like it
12 inch digital cluster
9 inch head unit (8 inch as base)
ACP
AA
WiFi enabled
Wheel is covered in piano black touch controls…plz stop
Stalks behind it are from an 06 Altima
CLASSIC triple pod gauges
Boost pressure
Spool speed
Battery voltage
USB-C & USB-A
Manual trans
Heated seats
Rev-matching
Decent driver assist suite
Intelligent cruise control
Lane departure warning, but no lane keep
