Hey everyone, what's up! Josh here from Alternative Brewing, and today we're brewing coffee with the AeroPress XL – the long-awaited and extra-large addition to the AeroPress family.

This upscaled and enlarged model of the original AeroPress boasts a 600ml capacity, doubling the previous 300ml, while retaining everything we love about an AeroPress – durability, lightweight, and the ability to make great coffee with a straightforward approach or as intricate as you prefer, giving you full control over all the parameters.

Despite its increased size, the AeroPress XL remains a fantastic portable option for making coffee while on the go. I've even found that my 1zpresso K-Max Grinder fits perfectly inside the AeroPress XL.

Plus, in the box, you now get an AeroPress Coffee Server designed specifically for the XL, holding half a liter. You also receive 100 XL paper filters, a bean scoop, and an extra-long stirrer. However, note that the carafe is the only component cross-compatible with other AeroPress products at this stage. Nevertheless, I'm sure accessories like metal or cloth filters and additional caps for espresso or cold brew are on their way.

Now, let's kick off our AeroPress XL brewing session!

For those unaccustomed to the AeroPress, whether you're an espresso lover, prefer a longer black coffee, or enjoy a milk-based fix, the AeroPress XL can be adapted to suit your tastes.

As a quick guide:

Step 1: Add the coffee and water.
Step 2: Stir the brew.
Step 3: Press the coffee into the carafe slowly and enjoy.

This process results in a smoother, more enjoyable French-press-like coffee. Using a paper filter provides a cleaner taste with less silt or sediment in the cup, enhancing the overall experience.

You can make brewing with the AeroPress as easy or as complicated as you like, but following a recipe helps achieve consistency. Since the AeroPress XL is an upscaled version of the regular AeroPress, I'll use a similar recipe and double everything.

We begin with 40g of filter-roasted coffee, ground to a medium-coarse consistency. Set your water temperature to 95ΒΊC, rinse the paper filter, and add your ground coffee. Pour in 500ml of water and stir gently for 10-20 seconds. Leave it steeping for 1.5 to 2 minutes, adjusting the grind size for your preferred strength.

Cleaning up is super easy – unscrew the filter lid, press out the wet grounds, rinse under hot water, and dry it off. Keeping the plunger out of the brew chamber helps maintain its softness.

While AeroPress advises against it, you can brew using the inverted method at your own risk. Stay tuned for more content by smashing the subscribe button, and if you enjoyed this video, hit like. Thanks for watching till the end, and we'll see you in the next one!
