Over the past few decades, queer theology has emerged as an increasingly influential field in the study of theology and the practices of Christian communities. This presentation will cover the emergence of queer theory and theology, explore some of the major themes in queer thinking, and consider ways queer theology is challenging dominant forms of Christian theologies – theologies that often exclude queer voices and ignore questions of sexuality and gender.
The speaker:

Her books include Christian Doctrine and the Grammar of Difference, and Sarah Coakley and the Future of Systematic Theology. She is a chief investigator on a major research project on Political Theology and the maternal figure as a research fellow of the University of Divinity and works within an interdisciplinary research team in childhood disability with the University of Melbourne and Australian Catholic University.
