What's up guys today we're working on the #honda #prelude were going to be repainting the front bumper along with some interior accessories. Shortly after I moved here to Oregon I was backed into by a jeep and was left with a nice Chip in the paint. I've been extremely busy with the shop I haven't had much time to work on the prelude. this weekend we're getting led lights installed so the shops pretty empty and this is a perfect time for personal work.

First ill take the side marker lights out

Which will expose the bash bars mounting bolts there's 2 on each side for a total of 4.

Then ill come in from the top and take the nut off.
Next I take the push clips from the cent of the bumper holding the nostals in

There's 2 screws holing the corner tabs ill take those off next and the hole bummer will come off together.

I forgot to disconnect the side marker lamps.

Alright with the bumper off and on a parts stand ill start to sand the surface. Now remember this is a How I not a How to! I'm limited on time and probably should have hand sanded the Bumper but nobody got time for that.
So using a Da with 180grit I'm going to sand the surface and come back by hand to get all the tighter areas.

I went with 180 seeing as the prelude was re painted shortly before I had purchased it and there was quite a few layers of paint.

I Got one last truck to spray before the weekend. If you haven't seen my shop series you should go and check it out. Next up me and pop are working on a 61 continental!

Back to the prelude!

After getting everything sanded with 180 ill blow the bumper off and wipe it down with a tack cloth before applying the first coat of primer. Getting some tips from pop on painting has helped me a lot. Pop is extremely knowledgeable and I'm trying to learn as much as I possibly can from him.

After the bumper been primed ill spray a Gide coat over it. As I start to sand the gide coat ill watch to see any highs and low spots and address those.

This bumper had a lot of small rock chips I'm going to use spot puddy for these. The goals is to press the muddy into the chip and fill it let it dry and feather everything out.
This is what it looks like sanded out

Were almost ready for paint but first I want to paint some interior accessories.
Cheap Amazon shifter going to sand with 600 grit

Old nrg steering wheel ill sand with a greenbright pad

Cosmic black is what the color came back on the prelude. It's original a jaguar paint color which is black from afar but closer you get the more the blue pops.

As for mixing the paint it will all depend on how much material you'll need. In most cases pop knows exactly how much reduction is needed to get a good spray out.

I'll start with the edges the do a few passes overlapping and keeping a wet edge.

3 coats of color & 3 coats of clear.

Well guys the bumper came out pretty nice there's some dirt which is to be expected this is actually the prep side of the shop our booth has a car in it at the moment but that will all wetsand out. Everything laid out smoothly with great reflection, ill let this dry over night and install later.

One of the bracket that hold the muffler broke and this rattle has been driving me crazy, so let's fix that. I got welder out going to make my own bracket and fix that.

Bumper is done and ready for install.
