We test the new Cupra Born EV for the first time on Australian soil, exploiting its 170kW RWD motor and sporty tuning at a hillclimb racetrack.

The Cupra Born is a small EV that is about the same size as a Volkswagen Golf. Australia is getting it for $59,990 or $62,490 driveaway in Sydney. Cupra Born pricing differs by Australian state and you can find a full breakdown here:

The Born will only come to Australia (at first) with a 170kW rear motor and 77kWh usable battery promising 511km of range and 170kW DC charging speeds.

It will be released in March 2023 and demand is expected to be high. The Born will compete with the Tesla Model 3, Polestar 2, Hyundai Kona Electric and other EVs at the relatively affordable end of the spectrum.

As always, we don’t accept advertising from car manufacturers, and we’re powered by Budget Direct - so this is an independent, honest review of the Cupra Born.
