Batman Begins is the grandfather of every “dark” superhero movie. Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and the Snyder Cut of Justice League among many others wouldn't exist without Nolan's first "dark" superhero movie. In Part 1 of this three part review and retrospective of the entire The Dark Knight trilogy, let’s take a second look at the one that started it all. You’d think the grandfather of an entire movie era must have done something right, right?

For the most part, yeah! Batman Begins is overshadowed by The Dark Knight...and rightfully so….but Batman Begins walks so its sequels can run. It does an excellent job at setting the foundation to build from, so in this video, let’s take another look at the things it does well even after all this time….and the things it doesn’t. It ain't perfect but it's fun to look at what it did well, what it doesn't, and everything in between. Especially since it has waaaay more competition nowadays.

And despite any flaws, at least it's not The Dark Knight Rises.
