RRVT's new steeplecab trolley locomotive was completed on June, 2019. The body, mostly built out of wood, was designed and constructed by the owner of the railway to resemble steepelcab locomotives, that operated for electric railways. The unit has double trucks, with a single golf cart traction motor in each driving chains & sprockets to propel each axle. It has air brakes, an air compressor, electric bell & solid state propulsion equipment. The locomotive is powered at 250vac overhead trolley, then through buck booster transformers, lowers the power to about 36-48 volts AC, which is rectified to DC power to operate the propulsion equipment and traction motors.
Enjoy the ride on this new locomotive.
