Wing Chun's "Secret" Technique

The basic straight kick of Wing Chun (including its variations like the side kick) is tremendously effective. Trained properly, it's almost impossible to block/evade. Not only that but the damage a good kick can do to the knee or groin is considerable. It can easily stop an assailant right then and there.

Okay, okay...if that's the case then why aren't we seeing more of it in Wing Chun? First, there's an over-emphasis on the hand techniques. Sure, they're important but the whole idea is integration. A proper balance of hands and kicks will supercharge your application ability. Second, and stemming from the first, not enough training time is devoted to mitt drills and bag work where the kicks are best developed.

In this video Sifu Jason shares all this and more. Plus, you'll see class examples of using focus mitts and the heavy bags in a way that will help you develop this not-so secret technique. And remember, if we don't train it for application it might as well be a secret because we won't be able to use it.
