As Milton Friedman famously asserted, there is no such thing as a free lunch. The truth is, there is also no such a thing as free research. Both at research universities and at other not-for-profit organizations, fellowships and grants are a lifeline that sustain new projects and initiatives. In this workshop, we will discuss strategies for writing successful fellowship and grant applications that will help you to fund your research and build your career. A panel of specialists in both academic and non-academic grant writing will offer guidelines based on their own experiences and answer any questions you may have about how to secure fellowship and grants.

Panelists:

Cate Goebel (Associate Dean for Research and Strategic Initiatives, Division of the Social Sciences), moderator
Valerie Levan (Fellowship Specialist and Lecturer in the Humanities Collegiate Division)
Daniel Casasanto (Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology)
