On January 27, 1973, the Paris Peace Accords were signed in a large hotel in the 16th arrondissement of the French capital.
They are concluded between the United States, the Republic of North Vietnam, the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) and the provisional revolutionary government of the Republic of South Vietnam formed by the FNL, National Liberation Front, also called "Viêt Cong" .
These agreements put an end to nearly eight years of conflict between the American army, support of the South Vietnamese government, and the North Vietnamese army.
Results: several million dead on the Vietnamese side and nearly 60,000 American soldiers killed.
