Google has many ways of helping people find relevant information. Sometimes their solutions might seem like they miss the mark. In 2016 the Local SEO community noticed a phenomenon where Google Business Profiles (Formerly Google My Business Profiles) would often be excluded from search results when another business entity happened to share the same category and address. Possum Filters are a little bit of an obscure, and complex situation but I've noticed them coming up as a topic of discussion a lot more lately, and this past week one happened to show up so that I had the ability to demonstrate exactly what the symptoms are, how to think about them, what the different manifestations look like, and what some possible remedies could be if you're seeing your Google Business Profile filtered out of the results.
