My Top 3 Favorite Plugins for Ultimaker Cura!

Ultimaker Cura is already an amazing slicer for FDM printing, but these three plugins make it awesome!

Learning how to 3D print can be tough and while Cura is a great slicer, it can be a bit overhwelimg. The Settings Guide plugin By Ghostkeeper makes learning how to use Cura much easier. Each setting has a large description often with picutes to help you really understand how it will affect your print. I recommend this plugin to anyone using Cura for 3D printing!

Finding models and creating scripts for 3D printing tets can be a bit of a pain. Thankfully the Calibration Shapes plugin by 5axes makes it easy. Not only is does this plugin come pre-loaded with a bunch of 3D test models, but it also has easy to use scripts for running all kinds of tests. Using the Calibration Shapes plugin you can create tests like temperature towers in less than a minute!

Learning how to use Cura supports can take some time. And sooner or later you’ll wish you could just add supports only where you need them. Well, that’s exactly what the Customer Supports plugin by Krasimir Stefanov will let you do. This plugin allows you to still use the long list of Cura support settings, but on custom placed supports. I have found this plugin incredibly useful for placing supports exactly where I needed them and nowhere else. This has saved me print time and filament because I’m not printing supports I don’t need.
