This is a desktop CNC mill I designed and built for a 500$ budget.

The software running on the arduino is called GRBL (open source) which translates G Code into step/direction signals for four stepper motors. I use CNCjs as a UI to send G code to the arduino.

I'm using 12v nema 17 stepper motors, a 24v 775 DC motor, and 8mm guide rods/leadscrews. Frame is built from 2020 aluminium extrusion.

This machine can mill aluminium and other soft metals but it is not intended for use with steel.
