This is my third video about this project, called "Gumption Trap". The first two videos cover the design, building, testing, and upgrading of this autonomous drone ship robot. This video demonstrates its operation during a 2 hour self driving waypoint mission. The boat uses GPS coordinates to follow a predetermined path with no operator intervention, using a blue robotics Ping echo sounder module to create a depth map as it travels. The depth sounder is run by the same arduino microcontroller which controls the autonomous navigation, storing all the data it collects on an SD card for later processing into 3D maps of the lakebed.
