This is a Motormouth couple car review of the new 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport mid-size 5-passenger SUV.What’s new for 2022? The Passport has a more aggressive front grille, a new hood and front fenders. Moving to the rear, a new bumper and larger dual exhaust outlets.
In Canada; it comes standard with 18” wheels, available 20 and in the US, 20” standard wheels. There is also a new trim for this year, the TrailSport, our test model in Sonic Grey Pearl has a unique exterior and interior design with a distinctive grille treatment, more aggressive front and rear bumpers, 18” wheels and all-terrain tires plus slightly wider front and rear tracks to improve stance and stability. Standard on the Passport is Honda’s torque vectoring AWD and Intelligent Traction Management systems and over the next few model years, Honda plans to give the TrailSport more off-road capability with future upgrades like more aggressive tires and off-road tuned suspension. The Passport has a 3.5L V6 engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission, 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Standard AWD in Canada and in the US, there is a 2WD option on the base trim, all other trims standard AWD. The Passport offers a very comfortable and spacious interior with sliding and reclining second row seats and a high cargo floor making it easy to load and unload items. There is also space under the cargo floor to store extra gear and the spare tire. This SUV comes standard with plenty of features like LED fog lights, LED headlights and taillights, an 8” touchscreen, 7” driver information display, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, heated front seats, 10-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support, manual passenger seat, heated steering wheel, a moonroof, power tailgate and Honda Sensing safety and driver assist technologies. The Interior of the TrailSport has a leather-trimmed interior with orange stitching, the TrailSport logo on the headrests and rubber mats. It also gets some extra features including, heated second row seats and a power passenger seat. The Passport 2WD starts at $37,870 USD, AWD $45,570 CAD/$39,970 USD, TrailSport $49,270 CAD/$42,470 USD and the top trim is $52,170 CAD/$45,430 USD.
