THE LONE STAR is among several pilot boats in the fleet maintained by the Houston Pilots. THE LONE STAR is used to transport pilots to and from their vessel assignments. It features a unique design, can make good speed on the water, and can handle rough seas. We recently spotted THE LONE STAR as it sailed alongside the tanker ASTRO ANTARES as the tanker with two pilots aboard was transiting the Houston Ship Channel for the Gulf of Mexico.
