This is a maritime case study from the Brownwater/Bluewater Coordination Seminar program in Houston Texas. The goal of the program is to create facilitated dialog between the professionals who work on the water. The aim of the program is improving communication, trust and general knowledge regarding the capabilities and limitations of the different vessels using the Houston waterway. This case study involves two captains who credit their relationship established at the Brownwater/Bluewater Seminar for their ability to avoid a potential collision involving a tow & barge and a ship along a narrow, bending stretch on the nation's busiest waterway.
