Greece is planning radical changes to its armed forces, particularly its air force, which include the decommissioning and sale of its F-16 and Mirage 2000 fighter jets. According to Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias, the sale of the jets is part of “the largest reform programme in the history of the modern Greek state.” During an interview, Dendias said he wants “to prepare the Greek Armed Forces for the 21st century.” Dendias stated that to achieve the goal, renovation of the Hellenic Air Force is at the top of the list of priorities. According to Dendias, the current aircraft fleet is overloaded due to the large number of different types of aircraft and needs to be unified. Watch the video to find out more.
