The Punisher (2005) sees Frank Castle as he continues to clean up the streets of New York City in the most brutal way possible. The development team "Volition Inc." leaned into the Punishers violent tendencies by putting you in the shoes of Frank Castle, allowing you to interrogate and kill criminals in unique ways. The Punisher is seen as an incredibly violent game, to the point it almost had a limited release, but it also has a lot of creativity. Garth Ennis & Jimmy Palmiotti took their experience writing Punisher comics and helped to pen the narrative of the Punisher game, providing an original story that ties to the 2004 movie in very minimal ways. We even get a lot of references to the wider marvel universe, with appearances from characters like Iron Man, Black Widow, and plenty more! In this video, we'll explore every angle of the Punisher game and discuss how it was made, where it excels, where it struggles, and ultimately how it holds up today.
