2022 Honda HR-V Hybrid Advance Style Review: The Sensible Choice? [Car Obsession]

In recent times I've tested the new Ford Puma (   • 2021 Ford Puma ST Review | Family Fri...  ), Nissan Juke (   • 2020 Nissan Juke Tekna+ Review: Bette...  ) and Hyundai Kona (   • No Power, No Fun? Hyundai Kona N Line...  ) but what if you want something a bit more...pragmatic? Step forward the latest Honda HR-V, which now features clever hybrid technology, lots of kit, class-leading spaciousness and technically features NO transmission.

It's powered by a 1.5 litre Atkinson cycle petrol alongside an electric motor. The power output is 131hp and 253Nm of torque. There is a strong chance you're not too fussed about performance, so let's focus on fuel economy. On a combined run you can expect around 52mpg and CO2 emissions are as low as 122g/km.

It comes in three trim levels, Elegance, Advance and Advance Style, which have respective prices of £29,410, £31,780 and £34,850. Elegance has standout features such as LED headlights, Honda Sensing, reversing camera, 9” Honda connect system, front and rear parking sensors and heated front seats. Advance adds heated steering wheel, power tailgate and synthetic leather and fabric upholstery. Last, but not least you have the Advance Style. This adds premium audio, two-tone paint finish, roof rails, LED cornering lights, and a wireless phone charger.
