So, over the past week we’ve been seeing a lot of new gameplay information for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as we lead up to its release. There was a new trailer showing off the open world, and journalists have been getting their hands on a demo of the game and sharing their thoughts.
And with this information sparked some discourse over the game’s web swinging and whether or not it’s enough of an "improvement" over the original. The core mechanics of it all, specifically the physics and the “floatiness”, don’t seem to be hugely fundamentally different from the previous titles. Some people see this as a positive, but some just absolutely hate it and say that it’s just "glorified DLC", that they spent too much time adding new traversal mechanics instead of “fixing” what they had before.

But, does Insomniac’s web swinging need to be… fixed? And what are some of the ways that that complexity could be brought in without fundamentally reworking what they’ve built?
