Do people still watch project (or you could call them build) videos anymore? Or is the YouTube woodworking space moving towards only tool review, tips and tricks, and other similar style videos?

In this video I want to briefly look into why I think there has been a decline in popularity (from a video view perspective) of project style videos and then ask the question, what does this mean for my channel that primarily focuses on creating project style videos?

You could probably spend a whole hour talking about why there has been a decline in popularity of project style videos, but I think the two big reasons are one, project videos aren't as new and exciting as they used to be. Anyone who has been watching woodworking videos on YouTube for awhile has probably seen a table or bed or workbench or whatever it might be get built countless of times and it just isn't as interesting after the second or third time. And the second reason, and personally I think the bigger reason of the two, is that from a YouTube title and thumbnail perspective, a tips and trick or similar style video performs better. It is easier to create an enticing thumbnail to click on when doing a video about the "5 tools to never buy." From a marketing perspective (which is all thumbnails and titles are) the tips and trick, non project style, videos attract the audiences attention better. (This is why there's been an explosion of project style videos getting advertised with vague titles like "I almost lost $5000..." with a similar vague photo of some pixelated finished project with a big red arrow somewhere. And for better or worse this is just the reality of what you need to do if you want people to click on your videos.)

But without getting too carried away in discussing the weird world of YouTube, the main reason I wanted to create this video is because I enjoy creating project style videos, and want to continue making these types of videos. I also stubbornly believe people still want to watch project style videos and or that I believe I have something unique in my channel/workshop/journey that people will find interesting, entertaining, inspiring, or helpful.

And so, this is where I need your help! I want to know what you like in project videos. What you like in woodworking videos in general, and what you like about my videos. I want to be able to consistently make videos that will leave you feeling like it was 10 to 15 minutes well spent. I want you to walk away from my video thinking "that was enjoyable", "I learned something new", "I liked the way he did that", "I feel inspired", or feeling like you can't wait for the next video in a series of videos I'm doing.

And to make this a reality I need your input! What better way to make this come true then to get input directly from the people watching my videos. So please, leave a comment, let me know what you think, and I promise I will genuinely be taking into consideration and trying to implement what you all say!
