Hello viewers, and Welcome. This project fell on the backs of previous ones. The Wood itself was an Old Hickory that had been sitting outside getting weathered for 2 years. I cut all of the punky outside edges off of it, and it sat in the Shop for almost a year drying out, and man was it dry! I was originally going with an Egg shape and then place a Lid on it, and I got hasty and turned the Tenon off of it before I could size up the lid. I ended up finding another chunk from the same Log that I began a bowl shape on a few months back, but abandoned it because it wasn't dry enough. Turns out that the pattern matched almost perfectly. Did not get an entire egg shape, my Wife says it looks like a Pear especially with the Knob that I put. For those who got a good look, pause the video at the end and you’ll see the face in the lid. I didn’t pick up on that until the video had already been posted
Sanded these 80-2000gt
Mineral Oil and Shellac finish, that still soaked right into the wood after a few coats.
