A chapter from a documentary film by the Raleigh Civil War Roundtable, "The Civil War in North Carolina: A Reluctant Participant, 1861."

One film in a series. Originally released on Blu-Ray in July 2023 to generate donations for preservation efforts.

Ernest A. Dollar Jr., is the director of the City of Raleigh Museum and the Pope House Museum. Ernie has also conducted extensive research on the Battle of Morrisville, helping to preserve the site, and has worked to uncover the African American history of Raleigh’s Dorothea Dix Park site. He has authored "Morrisville" and, "Hearts Torn Asunder: Trauma in the Civil War’s Final Campaign in North Carolina," published in 2022.
