I have been using the Apple Watch Series 7 everyday for the past year and today I want to share with you my experience, both the good and the bad. I am very happy with this watch overall but there are some key things you should know before buying. With the Apple Watch Series 8 around the corner, the Apple Watch Series 7 may be a good place to save some cash and still get a great watch. My spec. 41mm, more proportionate (less computer, more watch). Midnight, works for all occasions, formal/casual, range of bands. GPS only, non-cellular model. Pro tip: don’t spend extra on cellular, unless you leave home without phone. Durability. On the surface design still looks great. Aluminium watch case has no scratches, no dents. Digital Crown feels smooth, never getting stuck. I use a range and like to switch them out regularly. The band mechanism has held up well. Bands slide smoothly and lock securely. This is all quite good, but here comes the bad. Let’s turn to the front of the watch. Apple describe as “crack resistant front crystal”. My display hasn’t cracked, but it sure has scratched. Can see micro scratches all over the display, some deeper than others. Does this effect functionality? No. But these watches are expensive and if after one year, my screen looks like this, how will it look after 3 or 4? In terms of performance, Series 7 has been amazing. Practically no lag, no glitches, no app crashes. Will perform well for years to come. What about battery life? When I first got Series 7 it could last me a full day, today battery life is just as good! For my setup, I end each day with around 35%. Favourite features. For me, it is not one standout feature, instead it’s the little things, that together make life easier, save me time, and make the Apple Watch worth having. Notifications, I love getting notifications on the wrist. Noticeable but also silent so not distracting to others. When a notification comes in, you can preview it, mark a reminder as complete, take a call, or reply to a message. I love using SIRI, reminders to quickly make note of an idea. Finer things. Apple Watch will automatically unlock my Mac when I’m near it. Apple Pay, public transport and groceries. While listing to music, I can use my Apple Watch to change tracks and volume. Lastly, incredible range of customisation you get with Series 7, from watch faces, watch bands, watch cases, you can really make the watch your own. After one year of use, is the Series 7 still worth buying? Absolutely! The Series 7 provides the best Apple Watch experience yet. Yes the Series 8 is just around the corner, but that doesn’t change how good the Series 7 is and all of the features that it offers. Plus when the Series 8 comes out, the Series 7 will drop in price. Meaning you get even better value on this fantastic watch!
