A balanced drying system is used in water damage restoration. When the rate of dehumidification is equal to or greater than the rate of evaporation, you have a balanced drying system.

If the rate of evaporation is greater than the rate of dehumidification, hygroscopic materials will absorb moisture and cause secondary damage.
