Today, in our sports encyclopedia series we will talk about ABSORPTION Chess.
Absorption Chess is a modified form of chess with few interesting developments.
The game is played with the regular chess pieces on a regular chessboard.
The basic rules of the game stay the same with few exciting changes.
The game begins with the setup of the pieces on the board and the turns alternate between black and white.
Whenever a player manages to capture their opponent’s piece, the piece gains the captured piece’s movement in addition to the movement it already possesses.
If the chess disc pieces are used instead of full sized pieces, the player can simply stack their piece on top of the captured piece to remind them of your piece’s allowed moves.
The players are allowed to accumulate movement abilities of several pieces over their one piece only.
In a situation where the player captures a piece whose move is already obtained by the capturing piece, no new moves are added to the inventory of that piece.
If the King manages to get the ability to move several spaces at once, it cannot move over attacked squared.
Despite the restricted movement, the king can check their opponent’s king over attacked squares.
If a piece gains an ability of a pawn, it can be promoted but only if it advances to the last row using the pawn’s ability.
Once the pawn is promoted, it is allowed to keep all the movement ability it has plus the ability of whatever piece it is promoted to.
If the piece that rests on the second row and has the ability of pawn can execute the double step move if desired by the player.
In a situation where the player executes pawn’s double step ability with another that would be otherwise unable to perform that move, then that piece can be captured by executing en passant.
The first player that manages to checkmate their opponent player’s king wins the game.
