Body fluids or discharges (e.g., blood, vomit, feces, urine) pose a potential health hazard, as they may contain microorganisms that cause disease in humans – these diseases include, but are not limited to, Hepatitis A and B virus (HAV and HBV), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Norovirus.
The microorganisms that cause these diseases are resistant to routine cleaning and sanitation. To avoid dangerous cross-contamination to food, it is critical that body fluids
are cleaned and disinfected correctly and that all materials used to clean up body fluids are disposed of safely.
