Pinocchio is one of Disney’s most beloved animated films. Not to mention it’s one of the first to ever hit the big screen. So it’s only natural that Disney over 80 years later would want to remake it as a live action. After all it’s already done it for classics like Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo and Lion King.

And Disney pulled out all the stops for this one, including a star studded cast of Tom Hanks, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Luke Evans, and Robert Downey Jr. How could it be considered a flop with those kind of actors. But—since the original was released back in the 1940s it’s only natural that chances would be made in the new version. The only question is just how many changes were there?

Are the characters all the same in appearance and personality? How does the animation compare? And will Disney revamp all the adult moments that would be deemed inappropriate to children in this generation? Well, the truth is a lot was changed between the two films, but it’s up to you to decide whether or not that’s a positive or negative fact.
