Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order:    • Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is Painf...

The hype leading to the release of Jedi Survivor was through the roof. My friends and I couldn’t stop talking about it, there were advertisements everywhere, and it was clear to me that many were hopeful of the new release, but then it did. Top of the line gaming machines couldn’t run the game above 60 fps, and consoles were struggling to maintain 30 at times. Pair this with numerous crashes, a DRM that was so intrusive it had prevented players who bought the game from playing it, and we have the perfect storm capable of ravaging the games reception, and Respawns reputation.

I cannot understate the calamity that fell upon this game. Many critics outrighted begged their viewers to not purchase the game, Twitter was on fire with people airing their grievances, and it felt like it was impossible to go long without hearing of Jedi Survivors Tragic release. But why is it a tragedy? Well, if we look underneath the slideshows and shitty textures, we will see a game that is a perfect sequel. One that built off of everything its predecessor achieved. One that creates a satisfying story and contains heartfelt moments. One with tight and reliable gameplay. And one that will never see the light of day. Because like other abhorrent releases, the bad press around Survivors launch is a tumour that outweighs its host. Throughout this video we will look at all the ways Survivor is a good game, not as a means of defending the launch, that’s indefensible, but to show how clear it is, through every well made aspect of this game, that Star Wars Jedi Survivor… is a tragedy.

What is a good sequel? Previously I have defined it as a game that builds upon the gameplay, presentation, and story of its previous entry, expanding the world and what you can do in said world. I still use that definition as a guideline, but the reality is that what defines something as a good sequel is the experience, and aww man, was Star Wars Jedi Survivor an experience. A perfect sequel is not entirely about ticking boxes and improving every minute aspect of a game. Even if that’s part of the equation, the other half, the one I’ve often neglected, is the heuristic and subjective experiences that influence what a sequel must satisfy; notably, when I analyse a sequel, I have to ask, what expectations have been set?

Star Wars is a series with many good releases, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order being among them. Star Wars Jedi Survivor on the other hand, not so much. The Tragedy of Star Wars Jedi Survivor will be discussed and explained in this Star Wars Jedi Survivor review, Star Wars Jedi Surivor critique, and Star Wars Jedi Survivor analysis. This will build off of my Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order review and my Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order critique, and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Analysis. I will. assume you have seen my Jedi Survivor review, as it will be referenced within this Jedi Survivor critique, which is part of a larger Star Wars retrospective. This Star Wars analysis and Star Wars critique will include more games eventually. Within this potential retrospective, I will determine what the best Star Wars game is. This video will compare Jedi Fallen Order VS Jedi Survivor.
