- more info on screen; you can see more information, it is generally cleaner on any timeframe
- same colour option; bar charts usually have the chart in one colour (no red or green as in candlestick charts)
- trends clearer; this is subjective but for me the trends do look clearer.

Candlesticks
- more visual; you can configure them how you like
- easier to see
- wicks more obvious
