Maria Simeonova is the coordinator for the Western Balkans at the European Council on Foreign Relaitons Sofia bureau. She spoke to Vladimir Mitev on the twin issue of the renewed push for EU enlargement towards the Western Balkans, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia and for reform of EU institutions. Having commented what is realistic in this regard, she had a look at the role, which Bulgaria and Romania could play in this two track process. The current foreign minister of Bulgaria (Mariya Gabriel) and Romania (Luminița Odobescu) are both strongly related to EU institutions, which hints at the possible significance of the two countries for EU's strategy towards the Western Balkans and the three EU-inclined Eastern Parnership countries.
