Just last week was the official opening and celebration for Teslas new HQ and manufacturing plant in Austin. Giga Austin has already begun producing 4680 Tesla Model Y's out of the plant and we now have the details on what this car will be.

Tesla has been making and stacking up Tesla Model Y's in the parking lot outside of Giga Austin for some time now. It turns out that these are a new variant of the Model Y, which will be called the Standard Range All Wheel Drive Model Y. These initial production cars are only available for employees at Tesla, but we anticipate these will be offered for the masses in the coming weeks.

With these initial deliveries, we are getting some details on this new Model Y. This will be AWD, come with 279 miles of range, 0-60 in 5 seconds and come in at $59,990. When the SR Model Y was originally launched in January of 2021, it was $8k less than the LR AWD version. With this new price, it is only $3k less than the LR AWD Model Y.

Unfortunately prices have soared since the original SR Model Y, and we are seeing this new price reflecting the many increases we have seen since the beginning of 2021. This price is not quite the value it once was, but it will afford the opportunity to get the next generation batteries and a much shorter lead time with 50 less miles.
