Right after the 422 build went in the Trackhawk with a new Whipple 3.0, it started making noises. The build had about 800 miles on it when I started noticing the rattling sound at idle. I thought it was completely normal as the Whipple instructions noted it would make faint noise at idle.
When I took the second clip, it had 1500mi on it and it was louder than when I first noticed it.
A bunch of people contacted me that had the same issue and told me to get in touch with Whipple. I sent them an email and they requested a video of the issue.
I sent them a 20sec idle clip and confirmed there was an issue and to send it back for inspection. I was then issued an RMA # to return it for repair.
At this point I was frustrated because I just got the build back in December.
Blew the trans in January and got the built Sipple driveline installed in February.
Being able to finally put down full power to the build and now the new Whipple needs repair. I drove around only 3 days with the new trans and now had to remove the Whipple.
Knowing others that were going through or went through this procedure was comforting bouncing information back and forth.
Mostly for all of us it took the same time depending on location to CA.
Your lid is not needed when shipping it for repair.
Whipple took about 1.5 weeks with it swapping the case and runner design with the Rev K. (My previous one was a Rev J)
It took a week to travel from east to west coast and same returning. So 2 weeks in transit.
Mine was replaced under warranty. I sent documentation of purchase and that it was new when installed by a professional shop and set up information.
I didn’t have it ported, tapped for nitrous or powder coated yet.
I got it back and installed it myself this time, so I’m not sure how warranted I am anymore.
Anyways, after the install I bled the intercooler system and took it for a spin.
All I can say is WOW! It pulls much better with a fresh rebuilt Whipple.
I didn’t feel this way prior to sending it back, but I only had 3 days at full send power before sending it back.
Whipple did a great job with customer service from start to finish with me.
Since I contacted them via email and not through social media. I never mentioned to them my social media to them at all. So, I didn’t receive any kind of special treatment on repair time or delivery. All in all, expect to be down at least a month from the day it’s shipped to the day you get it back for installation.
I just wanted to give my experience with my Whipple repair.
