John is 70 years old and spent 17 years in the army until he could no longer pass the hearing test and was medically retired. He has found himself homeless for the last few years and has been living in his van in the mountains. Recently a big storm stranded John in town with no access back to his van, and he ended up having to stay in a homeless shelter for 6 weeks until the VA and the Central Oregon Outreach Association were able to set him up with a temporary motel, and a two year stay at a tiny home community. The only problem was that everything he owned was in his van stranded in the mountains. Luckily this wee we had a break in the weather and I was able to take him up to get his van, and bring it back to town to a spot he can park it for the week until it can be moved to his new tiny home.
I don't post these things for any sort of clout or recognition, I post them in hopes of it inspiring someone else to help others as well. John was well aware of the Youtube channel before hand and was all for being on and hoping this inspires someone else as well. His goal for the year is to get himself into a better position so that he can help other veterans receive the same type of help that he did. Awesome guy.
