The 2024 Mazda CX-60 may be new to the Australian market, but it's already made plenty of noise, with more and more buyers curious about it what it brings to the table. After all, the new mid-size SUV is tasked with taking the Japanese brand further into premium territory occupied by the likes of Lexus and Volvo with the NX and XC60, respectively.
So, what exactly is the CX-60 doing to elevate itself beyond Mazda's similarly sized CX-5 best-seller? Well, for one, its P50e variants are powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a tried-and-true 2.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for combined outputs of 241kW of power and 500Nm of torque.
But with an electric-only driving range of 76km from its 17.8kWh lithium-ion battery, is the CX-60 P50e a good PHEV? In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Emily Agar and her family of three spend a week with its mid-range GT version to find out.
